SSC Stenographer Exam
The SSC Stenographer Exam is organised every year by the SSC or Staff Selection Commission to select candidates for the posts of Stenographer Grades C and D. For this year, SSC has announced 1590 vacancies, out of which 1360 are for Grade D and 230 for Grade C posts.
There are important criteria that a candidate must fulfil to be eligible for the SSC Stenographer 2025. The parameters are given below:
The minimum Educational Qualification required by a candidate is to be at least a 12th pass from a recognized Board or University. He/She must be able to produce the required documents when asked for verification after qualifying SSC Stenographer 2025 Exam.
SSC Stenographer Grade C: A candidate must lie in the age domain of 18-30 years to be eligible for SSC Stenographer 2025 Grade C Exam. The candidates born not before 02.08.1995 and not later than 01.08.2007 are eligible to apply.
SSC Stenographer Grade D: A candidate must lie in the age domain of 18-27 years to be eligible for SSC Stenographer 2025 Grade D Exam. Candidates born not before 02.08.1998 and not later than 01.08.2007 are eligible to apply.

A candidate must be either:
(a) a citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam to permanently settle in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour the Government of India has issued a certificate of eligibility.
A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.
The application Fee for SSC Stenographer 2025 is Rs. 100/- (for General and OBC). Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD/Ex-servicemen category as well as female candidates are exempted from paying the application fee for SSC Stenographer 2025.

The SSC Stenographer 2025 examination will be conducted at 2 different levels. The first level is the Grade C and D exam which comprises MCQs and is conducted online. After this exam has been conducted, an exam to test your skill sets in various domains is conducted by SSC.

Important Points:
a) Question paper will be of Objective Type Multiple Choice. Questions will be set in Hindi and English except for Part III.
There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the question.
The minimum percentage of marks for qualifying in the SSC Stenographer Computer-Based Examination will be as under:
Candidates who obtain the qualifying marks in the Examination as may be prescribed by the Commission will be called for the Skill Test. The commission may also prescribe qualifying marks in each part of the Examination. The Skill Test will be of a qualifying nature, and the Commission will fix the qualifying standards in the Skill Test for different categories of candidates.
The candidates will have to appear for the Skill Test in Stenography. The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English/ Hindi at the speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m) for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’. The matter will have to be transcribed on a computer. The transcription time is as follows:

Important Points:
The syllabus for the SSC Stenographer is different for both stages of the examination and students must know the entire syllabus in order to prepare effectively for the SSC Stenographer 2025. General Awareness, General Intelligence/Reasoning and English Language are the three major sections a candidate needs to be proficient in for Paper-1 of SSC Stenographer 2025 Exam.

All the provisionally appointed candidates for Stenographer Grade ‘C’ (Group ‘B’, Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (Group ‘C’) posts will be paid an attractive monthly salary. Along with basic salary, various allowances (including Dearness Allowance and House Rent Allowance), and deductions (such as Provident Fund and Income Tax) will also be provided.

The admit card for SSC Stenographer 2025 will be released on ssc.gov.in. The admit card for the SSC Stenographer 2025 CBT Exam & Skill Test will be issued separately. All candidates can download the admit card for the SSC Stenographer Exam by using their registration number & password.
The results for the SSC Stenographer 2025 will be released after each phase of the exam is completed. The result for the CBT exam will be declared first, followed by the final result (CBT + Skill Test). The final merit list will be based on the marks obtained by candidates in the mains exam.
